Canoe & Gorge Scrambling Day

Get a Price & Book Your Adventure

A great way to experience both the beautiful river Wye and the stunning waterfalls area of South Wales...

A very popular multi-activity day and some say the best, it combines a relaxed paddle from Kerne Bridge to Symonds Yat in the morning, followed by a packed lunch (not provided, sorry) in the bus and an afternoon of Gorge Scrambling in the beautiful Sychryd and Mellte gorges of South Wales.

You are in the very capable hands of our experienced guides/instructors, to teach you how to paddle, help identify wildlife, answer questions about the environment, and of course deal with any safety issues and make sure you have a great day out!

Your Wye Valley Canoe & Gorge Scrambling adventure starts with a meet and greet at Symonds Yat West followed by getting you kitted out for the day with buoyancy aids, dry bags or barrels for whatever you wish to take with you and then a paddle and safety briefing before we are off to Kerne Bridge just below Goodrich Castle to begin the mornings 7.5 mile canoe trip.

Your trip takes you through some magnificent scenery following the river as it meanders down through the spectacular Wye Valley. The river passes under the well renowned view point of Symonds Yat Rock, which is also famous for its peregrine falcons, finishing back at Symonds Yat West and time to grab lunch and wetsuits and jump into a bus to head south to the southern tip of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the stunning Sychryd and Mellte Gorges. We provide everything you need to gorge except a swimming costume (for under your wetsuit) and some old trainers. Gorge Scrambling is fantastic fun, it involves getting up close and personal with nature and the environment, we start of small and teach you how to jump safely into the clear plunge pools before we head off up the gorges climbing, scrambling and leaping into the plunge pools, it certainly one way to work up an appetite. All of the jumps on this adventure can be walked around if you feel you don't want to jump and it's still an awesome afternoon that you won't forget!

Known as the Birthplace of British Tourism following on from the publication of William Gilpin’s “Observations of the River Wye”, which created the picturesque movement, you can also experience first hand some of the most stunning scenery and wildlife in the British Isles.
